What is PLASMAIDE?
You may have heard of athletes drinking beetroot juice just before a race in order to increase the levels of Nitric Oxide (NO) in the blood stream. Plasmaide is another level up, it's a liquid plant-based adaptogen and the active ingredient is pine bark extract (pinus pinaster). "Adaptogen" in this case means that this plant-based formula triggers your body's own system to produce increased levels of NO, and stabilize it once its formed. The stabilization of NO is a key difference between Plasmaide and supplements like beetroot juice. From a single 45 ml dose, you get a 4-5 hour stable effect.
Why do you want an increase in NO?
Increase in NO means increased vasodialation which lead to increased blood flow. Increased blood flow has two main benefits. 1) A higher flow of oxygen to your working muscles or higher cardiac output. 2) More efficiently leading toxic waste like lactate away from your muscles.
These of course has many "secondary" benefits and may
- reduce build up of lactic acid giving less muscle fatigue.
- improve physical performance and recovery
- give positive effects on sleep.

How to use
Firstly, we encourage everyone that want to try Plasmaide, to plan ahead in order to make objective observations of it's effects. That is how we work with any new addition, nutrition or sensor. We would also value any insight or feedback you have.
General use
Remember, Plasmaide is not a fuel and should not be used during exercise or competition. The first advice is therefore to take the sachet 30-45 minutes before you start.
Use Plasmaide by taking 1 sachet per day for 3 or 4 weeks, and then take 1 week off to prevent adaptation and to maximize effects. Typically take the sachet before that day's most important workout, or in the evening before sleep.
Adjust to training
Take into account your training schedule in order to maximize the effects. A typical training cycle with 3 weeks of increasing load and 1 recovery week for adaptation, could be supported well by the addition of Plasmaide. Introduce Plasmaide in the recovery week and the 2 first build up weeks. That way you maximize the effects of recovery and endurance in the build up weeks. Then allow for adaptation by not using Plasmaide in the toughest week. That will in turn allow your body to be fully depleted in the final and hardest week, and you will get the positive effects that comes with adaptation to training and higher workloads.
In preparation to competition
Begin with 1 sachet daily for 4 weeks leading up to your event to build a solid foundation. On the day of the event, take 1 sachet 30-45minutes before the start to boost performance. After the event, take 1 sachet in the evening to aid recovery. Continue with 1 sachet daily for 1-2 weeks post-event to ensure full recovery.
How about Ultra events /sessions longer than 6 hours
Our first rule still holds, do not take during exercise or competition. However, during ultra events you may still want to take additional sachets during any 30-minute brakes. Otherwise follow the general competition prep.
Travel
Test it on any flight by bringing any pulse oximeter (to measure oxygen saturation) and compare your saturation with and without the effects of Plasmaide.
Take 1 sachet 30 minutes before departure and 1 sachet upon arrival. For flights longer than 4 hours you may take 1 additional sachet every 4-6 hours.
Is Plasmaide safe?
As always with medical advice, if you have any medical conditions or are using any sort of medicine, please consult a medical doctor before adding any new supplement or adaptogen to your routine.
How about anti-doping
